At LaFave, Wein, Frament & Karic, PLLC, we believe our responsibility to the legal profession extends beyond the representation of our clients. Our partners and team are committed to strengthening the local legal community, supporting legal education, and helping prepare the next generation of advocates.

We are proud of the ways our firm is contributing to that effort.

Amina Karic has been actively involved with Albany Law School’s Client Counseling Program, serving as a final-round judge in 2025. Her participation provides law students with the opportunity to receive feedback from experienced practitioners as they develop the practical skills required to effectively counsel clients.

Jason Frament brings his experience as an attorney, Scotia-Glenville High School graduate, and parent to his role coaching the school’s Mock Trial Team. The team won back-to-back Schenectady County Championships in 2024 and 2025 and advanced as Region 3 champions to the 2025 New York State Mock Trial Tournament at the Federal James T. Foley Courthouse in Albany. Jason’s involvement and the team’s success were highlighted by the New York State Bar Association in its feature on the program as seen here

Cynthia LaFave supported the Voorheesville High School Mock Trial Program as a coach during their 2025 season. Through coaching, Cynthia helped students develop the advocacy, critical-thinking, public-speaking, and courtroom skills that are foundational to the legal profession.

That commitment is reflected throughout our firm. Jessica Rosenthal, a full-time law clerk with LaFave, Wein, Frament & Karic, recently judged the first preliminary round of Albany Law School’s Client Counseling Competition for their 2026 season. During her final year of law school, Jessica also competed in and won the Karen C. McGovern Senior Prize Trials, further demonstrating the advocacy skills she brings to her work with our firm.

We are proud of the commitment our attorneys and team members make to legal education and mentorship throughout the Capital Region. Investing in the next generation of advocates is an investment in the future of our profession and our community.
